Methods of Ruqyah Shariyyah
- Direct Ruqyah
- Indirect Ruqyah (using a Medium / Jinn Catcher)
- Catch and remove jinn from the patient’s body
- Catch and remove the sorcerer’s jinn
- Catch the sorcerer
- Other Methods (e.g. using a pen, etc)
Direct and indirect ruqyah methods can be done both
- in-person
- remotely, e.g. via Skype
How to Use this Page?
These steps work whether you do direct ruqyah on a patient or indirect ruqyah using a jinn catcher / medium.
- Read this entire website before beginning
- When you’re ready to start, follow the steps under “Step-by-Step Process”
- During the ruqyah session, if the jinn behaves in certain ways, look up its behavior and find a matching behavior under “Conditional Verses”. Recite the conditional verses depending on the condition and situation you are in with the jinn.
Warning
If you think you are affected, you can do ruqyah on yourself. However, if you are not experienced in doing ruqyah, you should not do it on other people unless you are accompanied by someone who is experienced.
- Make ablution
Everyone (jinn catcher, healer, and patient) make ablution
- Prepare some holy water
This step is optional but good to do if doing ruqyah in person instead of remotely, e.g. via Skype. In order to cure a patient, you will often need water over which you have recited certain verses of the Quran. Water over which the Quran has been recited becomes holy water. It can be used to burn evil jinn and destroy black magic. To create holy water, perform the following steps using either regular or Zamzam water.Put some holy water in a spray bottle and some in a cup. The spray bottle will be used to spray (burn) the jinn and destroy black magic, if necessary. The cup will be for the patient to drink, if necessary.
Steps
- Get some water
Water from a faucet or mineral water in plastic bottles or jugs will work. Ideally, use Zamzam water.
- Place the water open in front of you
If the water is in bottle or jugs, open the bottles or jugs.
- Recite verses
Sitting in front of the water, recited the following verses. After each verse, blow on the water.
- Fatiha (1) 11 times.
- The Cow (2), verses 1-3, 2 times.
- The Cow (2), verse 102 until kafaru, 7 times.

- The exile (59), verse 21, 2 times,
- The djinns (72), verses 1-8, 7 times,

- The women (4) verse 87
- Cattle (6), verses 102 and 106

You can also add the following verses for jinn:
- Al-Ahqâf (46), verses 29-32, 3 times,
- The Mercy Giving (55), verses 33-35, 11 times,
- Qâf (50), verse 19, 11 times
This list is not exhaustive. You can add other verses you find relevant as well,
- Place water in a spray bottle
To facilitate burning jinn and destroying black magic, place some of the holy water in a spray bottle and a cup.
Hold hands
In in-person ruqyah, healer is to hold hands with patient’s head with toHealer is to have one hand hold the the hand of the patient (or a photo of the patient) and the other hand hold the hand of the jinn catcher. Jinn catching can be used to catch jinn inside people who are not present or cannot be available. In this case, simply replace the patient with a picture of the patient.
State intention
This is an important step and should not be forgotten. You may perform this step in your heart instead of out loud. Following are the two declarations to make:
- Intention declaring goal for doing ruqyah
- E.g
- “I intend to do ruqyah to destroy the black magic and remove the jinn affecting this person”“
- I intend to capture the jinn of the sorcerer and remove them from the sorcerer so that the sorcerer can’t use those jinn to do black magic again.”
- Declaration that God and only God provides the cure
It is important to understand that you, the raaqi, are but a mere human and cannot cure people all on your own. Only God can provide the cure. It is a best practice to explain this to your patient so that they don’t think you’re some special human with semi-Godly powers to be praised as such. If you are successful in “helping” the patient get cured, you need to remember not to boast or brag about your efforts nor think that you are better than others. Just thank God you were able to help others.
Recite protection and cure prayers
These prayers can be recited in English but it is preferable to recite them in Arabic.
The healer and the jinn catcher make intention to catch the jinn and the healer recites the following prayers. The prayers are also important as they ask for protection for the healer as well.

And follow that which the devils falsely related against the kingdom of Solomon. Solomon disbelieved not; but the devils disbelieved, teaching mankind magic and that which was revealed to the two angels in Babel, Harut and Marut. Nor did they (the two angels) teach it to anyone till they had said: We are only a temptation, therefore disbelieve not (in the guidance of God). And from these two (angles) people learn that by which they cause division between man and wife; but they injure thereby no-one save by God’s leave. And they learn that which harmeth them and profiteth them not. And surely they do know that he who trafficketh therein will have no (happy) portion in the Hereafter; and surely evil is the price for which they sell their souls, if they but knew. (102)

He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. Say, [O Muhammad], “It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, ‘Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur’an. It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son.And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. Summon the jinn
To call the jinn to the catcher’s body, recite the following verses until you notice signs that the jinn catcher is possessed. When the jinn catcher catches the jinn, they will begin to show abnormal signs like twitching, uncontrollable hand shaking, head moving around, body shivering, making weird sounds, etc.

Talk to the jinn
- Ask to speak to the chief jinn
You want to talk to the chief jinn since the other jinn will usually do whatever the chief does. If you are not talking to the chief, tell the jinn that it can leave the catcher’s body and start over with the intention of calling the chief. Or, ask the jinn in the catcher’s body to call the chief and then recite 2/148 (previous step above) to summon the chief jinn.
If the jinn is deaf, mute, or blind, they will not be as easy to remove from the patient’s body. Special handling would be required in these cases.
- If the jinn is mute
Clever magicians send mute jinn to possess people. They do this because if the jinn can’t talk, it would be impossible to get any information from the jinn and it would be difficult to get the jinn to leave. In this case, read the following verses to help it talk. If the jinn still can’t talk, you can keep reciting Ayat Al-Kursi until it burns to death or leaves on its own.
Repeat
(55/1-5) The Compassionate. Has taught the Quran. He created man. And taught him clear expression.
If the jinn doesn’t want to or can’t talk, repeatedly recite the following verses to make it talk.
(41/21) “… They Said: We were made to speak by God, the One who has made every thing to speak. …”
(113/4) “… And from the evil of the blowers in knots …”
(37/92) What’s wrong with you that you can’t speak.
(20/27-28) And loose a knot from my tongue, (27) That they may understand my saying. (28)

If the jinn is violent or threatens to inform the sorcerer about the patient
Repeat
(25/45) Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow. If He willed, He could have made it — still
Repeat
(69/30-32) [Allah will say], “Seize him and shackle him. Then into Hellfire drive him. Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him.”
If the jinn threatens to inform the sorcerer about the patient
(6/13) And to Him belongs whatsoever exists in the night and the day, and He is the All¬Hearing, the All¬Knowing.” (13)
Ask the jinn to become Muslim
If the jinn isn’t Muslim, ask it to convert. If it doesn’t want to, convince it to do so. For example, if the jinn is Jewish, play verses of the Quran about why the Jews were wrong. Tell the jinn that if it doesn’t convert and stop hurting the patient, you will burn and kill the jinn. If the jinn is stubborn and doesn’t want to become Muslim, don’t force it to convert. Just go to the next step and tell it to find and destroy the black magic and the leave forever.
If the jinn doesn’t know God, introduce God by reciting the following verses.
(39/62-63)Allâh is the Creator of all things, and He is the Wakîl (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian) over all things. (62) To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. And those who disbelieve in the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh, such are they who will be the losers. (63)
(24/35) God is the Light of the heavens and the earth.
God is the Protector of those who believe. He brings them out of the depths of darkness into the light. (2/257)
If the jinn doesn’t know anything about Islam, repeatedly recite the following verses.
(3/19) Truly, the (recognized) religion in the sight of God is Islam.
(51/56) I did not create the Jinns and the human beings except for the purpose that they should worship Me.
(6/162-163) Say, “My prayer, my offering, my life and my death are for God, the Lord of all the worlds. (162) For Him there is no partner. And thus I have been commanded, and I am the first one to submit.” (163)
If the jinn says it can’t convert or take shahada because it has a pact with the magician, then recite the following verse:
Here is a disavowal (proclaimed) by God and His Messenger against the Mushriks (polytheists) with whom you have a treaty. (9/1)
Convert the jinn
If the jinn agrees to convert to Islam, have it raise its index finger to take shahadah. Tell the jinn to repeat after you and say 3 times the following:
I bear witness that there is no god but God
and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God
God is [the] greatest
Jinn color
After converting, ask the jinn what color it is. It should be white. If the jinn says any color other than white, it may not have genuinely converted. Have the jinn take shahadah again.
If the jinn lied about its color (hypocrite)
Surely, the hypocrites are in the lowest level of the Fire, and you shall never find for them a helper (4/145)
Ask the jinn questions
Now that you’ve captured the chief jinn, you can ask it questions.
Do not ask the jinn questions unrelated to helping cure people from black magic as that could lead to shirk. And never ask questions about the future. If a jinn says it knows the future, it is lying. Only God knows the future.
Jinn are sometimes like robots. If you ask them a question, they will only answer that specific question even if they know related information. They will not necessarily elaborate. Therefore, it’s good to be specific but at the same time ask many questions that can help you help the patient. Following are some questions that are good to ask the jinn. Some of the questions can be answered based on other questions. Nevertheless, it’s best to sometimes ask the same question in different ways to make sure the jinn isn’t lying.
Questions To Ask After The Jinn Converts To Islam
- How many of you (jinn) are in the patient’s body?

Recite conditional verses
Depending on the jinn’s reaction, you may need to recite certain verses of the Quran, e.g. if the jinn is feeling uncomfortably hot in the catcher’s body and cannot behave, you can recite chapter 21 verse 69 multiple times.
We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham (21/69)
Even though this verse speaks for Abraham, it will cool the jinn down, inshaGod. Below is a list of verses for different situations. If the verses below don’t apply to the situation you are facing, you can search the Quran online for a verse that does.
Have the jinn leave
Once the jinn has converted, has destroyed the black magic, and promised to leave the patient alone, you can allow the jinn to leave the catcher’s body. Ask the chief jinn how many of the jinn in the patient’s body will leave. If the jinn says only some will leave, e.g. 100 out of a total of 500, accept that number. Jinn must leave in batches to prevent negative health side effects of forcing more jinn to leave at once. When you’re ready to let the jinn leave, tell it to go to Mecca and simply say “Assalamualaikum” and it/they will leave.
Never recite 6/45 to force all of the jinn out of the patient’s body! Forcing too many jinn out of one’s body at one time can leave the patient INSANE or worse.
If the jinn doesn’t know where to leave to
If the jinn doesn’t know where to go, ask if it has wings so it could fly to Mecca. If it doesn’t, ask it to pray along with you for God to give it wings. Also, recite the following
And it was due on Us to help the believers. (30/47)
If the jinn asks where it can go and what it can eat?
We have treasures of everything, but We send it down only in a determined quantity. (15/21)
If the jinn doesn’t want to leave
If the jinn is stubborn and doesn’t want to leave, recite the following verses and insist that the jinn leave.
(99/1-2) When the earth will be trembled with its quake, (1) And the earth will bring forth its burdens (2)
(35/36-38) And for those who disbelieve will be the fire of Hell. ● [Death] is not decreed for them so they may die, nor will its torment be lightened for them. ● Thus do we recompense every ungrateful one. ● And they will cry out therein, “Our Lord, remove us; we will do righteousness – other than what we were doing!” ● But did We not grant you life enough for whoever would remember therein to remember, and the warner had come to you? ● So taste [the punishment], for there is not for the wrongdoers any helper. ● Indeed, God is Knower of the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and earth. ● Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
(If the jinn still refuses to leave
(If you’ve tried everything and the jinn still refuses to leave, threaten to burn and kill the jinn. Recite the following verses to burn and kill the jinn.
(27/30-31) It is from Sulaiman, and it is (in the following words): With the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful. (30) Do not rebel against me, and come to me in submission.” (31)
His practice, when He intends to do something, is no more than He says, “Be”, and it comes to be. (36/82)
And it was due on Us to help the believers. (30/47)
The believers fight in the way of God, and the disbelievers fight in the way of Taghut. So, fight the friends of Satan. No doubt, the guile of Satan is feeble. (4/76)
If the jinn is afraid it’ll get killed or harmed if it leaves
If the jinn is afraid to leave the person’s body because it’s afraid it’ll get killed by other jinn, tell the jinn you are going to help it by repeatedly reciting the following verse
(17/45) And when thou recitest the Qur’an we place between thee and those who believe not in the Hereafter a hidden barrier
If the jinn is afraid of the sorcerer, repeatedly recite the following verses.
(30/47) … And it was incumbent upon Us to make the believers victorious.
(33/3) And put thy trust in God, for God is sufficient as Trustee.
If the jinn leaves and then comes back
If this is the third or fourth time you’ve had to do ruqyah on the patient because the sorcerer keeps redoing black magic, recite the punishment prayer and tell the jinn to reverse the magic on the sorcerer or the person who hired the sorcerer. InshaGod, God will curse the sorcerer and/or requester and they will not be able to do any more harm.
If you think the jinn is lying and trying to fool you, repeatedly recite the following.
(3/61)… the Curse of Allâh upon those who lie.
Surely, the hypocrites are in the lowest level of the Fire, and you shall never find for them a helper (4/145)
If the jinn says you are lying, repeatedly recite the following verse.
(17/81) And say: Truth hath come and falsehood hath vanished away. Lo! falsehood is ever bound to vanish.
If the jinn is trying to run away, repeatedly recite the following verses to stop and tie him up.
(76/4) We have prepared, for the disbelievers, shackles and iron-collars and a blazing Fire.
(37/24-26) And stop them, for they must be questioned. (24) What aileth you that ye help not one another? (25) Nay, but this Day they make full submission. (26)
(86/8-17) Surely He is Powerful to bring him back (8) On a day when all the secrets will be searched out, (9)And he will have neither strength (to defend), nor a supporter. (10) I swear by the sky that rains, (11) And the earth that cracks open (for plants), (12) This is a decisive word, (13) And it is not a joke. (14) They are devising plans, (15) And I Am devising plans. (16) So leave the disbelievers alone at the moment; give them respite for a while. (17)
then recite Ayat Al-Kursi 7 times with the intention of locking the jinn in the left leg so it can’t run away
If the jinn is asking who you are, say the following.
(7/196) Lo! my Protecting Friend is God Who revealeth the Scripture. He befriendeth the righteous.
If the jinn is asking you to free his family, recite the following.
Wherever you are, God will bring you all together. God is certainly powerful over everything. (2/148)
If the jinn’s family has been killed, recite the following.
So, proclaim God’s purity (from shirk) when you see the evening and when you see the morning. (17) And to Him be praise in the heavens and the earth, and in the afternoon and when you enter the time of Zuhr (soon after the decline of the sun towards West). (18) He brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living, and gives life to the land after it is dead. And in similar way you will be brought out (from graves). (19) (30/17-19)
If the jinn doesn’t like its shape, recite the following.
(30/30)So, set your face to the Faith uprightly, this (faith) being the nature designed by God on which He has created the mankind. There is no change in God’s creation. 7 That is the straight faith, but most of the people do not know.
If the jinn says it is a king or important chief, repeatedly recite the following verses.
(3/26) Say: O God! Owner of Sovereignty! Thou givest sovereignty unto whom Thou wilt, and Thou withdrawest sovereignty from whom Thou wilt. Thou exaltest whom Thou wilt, and Thou abasest whom Thou wilt. In Thy hand is the good. Lo! Thou art Able to do all things.
(38/20) We made his kingdom strong and gave him wisdom and decisive speech.
If the jinn is burning and feels uncomfortably hot, cool it down by repeatedly reciting the following verse (unless you want to let it burn).
(21/69) We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham
If the jinn is strong and challenges you?
His practice, when He intends to do something, is no more than He says, “Be”, and it comes to be. (36/82)
To calm the jinn down
Salam ”(Peace upon you) is the word (they receive) from Merciful Lord. (36/58)
He (God) is such that He sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers, so that they grow more in faith in addition to their (existing) faith. And to God belong the forces of the heavens and the earth, and God is All-Knowing, All-Wise (48/4)
If the jinn is a lover jinn, repeatedly recite the following verse
And it is among His signs that He has created for you wives from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquility in them, and He has created love and kindness between you. Surely in this there are signs for a people who reflect. (30/21)
If the jinn is too old and weak to do what you’re asking it to do, repeatedly recite the following.
Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy
If the jinn has sacrifices and offerings, cancel them by reciting the following verses.
(6/162-163) Say, “My prayer, my offering, my life and my death are for God, the Lord of all the worlds. (162) For Him there is no partner. And thus I have been commanded, and I am the first one to submit.” (163)
If the jinn is working with Satan and taking orders from him (e.g. says he’s here to do and finish his job), repeatedly recite the following verse.
Surely Shaitan (Satan) is an enemy for you. So, take him as an enemy. He only invites his group (to falsehood) so that they become inmates of the blazing fire. (35/6)
The Satan will say when the matter will have been decided, “God promised you a truthful promise while I gave you a promise and did not fulfill it. I had no authority over you, except that I invited you and you accepted my call. So, do not blame me, but blame yourselves. Neither I can come to your help, nor can you come to my help. I disown your associating me with God in the past. Surely, there is a painful punishment for the unjust.” (14/22)
If the jinn is forgetful and can’t remember, restore its memory by repeatedly reciting the following verses.
Al-Faatihah (1/1-7)
He (God) is such that He sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers, so that they grow more in faith in addition to their (existing) faith. (48/4)
We have created man in the best composition (95/4)
If the jinn is stubborn and says it would rather go to Hell than leave the patient alone, show the jinn Hell by recite the following verses.
(Now) this is the Jahannam of which you were consistently warned. (63) Enter it today, because you have been persistently denying (the truth).” (36/64)
● Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.</P
To show the jinn Paradise to convince him to do what you want, recite the following verses.
(78/31-36) Of course, the God-fearing will have great achievement, (31) Gardens and grapes, (32) And buxom maidens of matching age, (33) And goblets filled up to the brim. (34) They will not hear any vain talk therein, nor lies, (35) This being a reward from their Lord, a well calculated grant, (36)
If the jinn reacts in any other way
Search the Quran online for verses using keywords related to how the jinn is reacting and recite verses relevant to the situation.
